A home in the 900 block of South Bruner Street in Hinsdale is boarded up Thursday morning after a fire that was called in at 3:51 a.m.

The elderly woman who was rescued by firefighters from a burning Hinsdale home Thursday morning was in fair condition late last week, according to a spokesman for Adventist Hinsdale Hospital.

"As of Friday, her condition was fair," public relations specialist Christopher LaFortune said in an email Saturday.

Fire department spokesman Steve Tullis said members of the fire department visited the woman in the hospital Friday.

"We are all pulling for her speedy recovery," Tullis said.

The fire was reported at 3:51 a.m. Thursday by the woman's son, who was also transported to Adventist Hinsdale Hospital for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters conducted a search of the first floor and found the victim lying unresponsive in the living room before bringing her outside.

Hinsdale Fire Department Chief Rick Ronovsky said the victim had a pulse when she was pulled out of the home, but was only breathing "one or two times per minute." Firefighters provided her with oxygen to get her breathing again. CPR was not needed, Ronovsky said.

Tullis said the cause of the fire has still not been determined. The department's investigative team interviewed the son Friday after he spent Thursday night in the hospital.
