Charges were announced Friday for three men who sheriff officials said robbed a juvenile near Clarendon Hills late Thursday afternoon.
Kelechukwu Akuba, 20, of the 300 block of Daisy Circle, Romeoville, Leverenzel Booth, 18, of the 7500 block of Farmingdale Drive, Darien, and Jerron Wilbut 19, of the 16W600 block of Mockingbird Lane, Willowbrook, were all charged with one count of robbery, a class 2 felony, after they stole money and property from the juvenile while displaying an object that the victim believed at the time to be a handgun, according to a release from the DuPage County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's spokesperson Dawn Domrose said the incident took place in an unincorporated area near 55th Street and Route 83 at approximately 4 p.m. Thursday.
According to Domrose, the gun was not a real firearm, though she was not sure whether it was a toy gun, an air gun, or some other type of fake gun.
Plans to meet with the juvenile, who was an acquaintance of the three charged, were made ahead of time.
"After a short investigation by sheriff’s detectives, the three suspects and property were located, and taken into custody," the release reads.
All three men are currently at DuPage County Jail awaiting bond hearings.
