Bear Down, Chicago Bear!
Who’s a bigger Chicago Bears fan than the guy who keeps an actual Chicago bear? Okay, he’s not really an actual bear, but this fuzzy four-foot mount going for $250 out of Downers Grove might be the best Sunday game day buddy possible: he’s polite, spirited, good for celebratory (or mournful) hugs, and is guaranteed to never steal all the guacamole dip.
Bed Goes Vroom-Vroom
Is your kid a “Cars” fan? Or perhaps just a cars fan? Well, this bed isn’t exactly Lightning McQueen, but I bet a lot of kids 2-8 years old might be a little less fussy about going to bed each night if they got to curl up in this bad boy, going for $350 out of Burr Ridge. Plus, the “windows” are rails, in case, like I was, your little thrasher is prone to midnight spills onto the rug. Twin mattress included!
Real Car Actually Does Go Vroom-Vroom
On the flip-side, this lemon-yellow Corvette in Hinsdale, while less comfortable for a kid to sleep in, probably has a bit more horsepower, torque and actual, y’know, mobility. It’s going for a cool $36,000, but you can’t put a price on style. Well, actually, yes. You can. It’s $36,000.
Rainbow Sunshine Castle
There are plenty of backyard playsets on Craigslist, but how can you resist the “Rainbow Sunshine Castle Model II,” complete with a little rock wall, a rope ladder, swings, a slide and what I have just now learned is the flag of the Khmers Kampuchea-Krom Federation? (Okay, it’s actually just a blue, yellow and red tarp.) It’s $950 in Lemont, though as usual with these things, schlepping the darned thing back to your yard is your problem, and your problem alone.
Kitty Lost in Downers Grove
This poor kitty vanished three weeks ago from the Downers Grove area, around the corner of Washington Street and Maple Avenue, southeast of the downtown. He’s a black domestic short-haired Bombay, last seen April 8. Please get in touch if you’ve seen him!
Big White-Sox Ball
It’s a big blow-up ball for $5, branded White Sox and Miller Light, from Darien. “Never played with; just won this in a white-elephant grab bag.” A good accessory for a day at U.S. Cellular, although I think you’re not technically supposed to, and you don’t stand a snowball’s chance of ever getting it back.
