Those who attend District 86 Board of Education meetings know they’re often not brief get-togethers, but a measure approved last week aims to keep board members and meeting attendees from staying out too late.
Board members voted unanimously last week to move the start time of meetings forward from 7:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. when they approved their board calendar for the second half of the year.
Board President Victor Casini first proposed the idea at the new board’s first meeting on May 6.
“You can get things rolling and potentially get out a little earlier,” Casini said before the board approved the change during a May 20 meeting that lasted more than four hours.
Casini said during his first meeting as president that keeping meetings efficient and shorter is one of his priorities.
The two meetings in June will start at 7:30 p.m. The first 7 p.m. meeting will be the regular action meeting on July 15.
