Hinsdale South turned the ball over five times on their home field en route to a 17-14 loss to Lyden Friday night in Darien, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Tied at 7 in the fourth quarter, senior Hornets quarterback DJ Deolitsis fumbled and Eagles linebacker Ivan Nevarez took the ball back 53 yards for a game-changing touchdown.

"On first down following the ensuing kickoff, Hornets running back Arian Toney was tackled and fumbled," the Sun-Times reports. "Eagles linebacker Will Napier recovered on Hinsdale’s 37. Six plays later, Wach Mark squeaked over a 39-yard field goal to provide the insurance points."

Deolitsis had 99 yards rushing and one rushing touchdown on 12 carries times Friday. He also completed 6 of 9 passes for 76 yards and a score.

Both Hinsdale South and Leyden are 4-1 after Friday's game. The Hornets are 2-1 in West Suburban Gold play; the Eagles are 3-0.

Up next for the Hornets is a Saturday afternoon crossover game at Hinsdale Central, who beat Lyons Township, 24-20, Friday night. Next week's is a Homecoming game for the Red Devils, and Hinsdale South would like nothing more than to spoil the celebration against their intra-district rival.
