Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113a invites all community members to participate in “Forum for the Future,” a series of forums designed to support the current strategic planning process. Founded on the belief that a successful school district is a vital, shared resource of a thriving community, 113a’s  “Forum for the Future” will inform participants of the district’s progress and facilitate conversations about district priorities.

All community members have a vested interest in ensuring the success of our schools.  “Forum for the Future” offers the opportunity for all district residents to provide critical and influential input to the 113a Board of Education as it develops its 5-year strategic plan to balance academic rigor with fiscal responsibility.

“Forum for the Future” session dates, times, and topics are below.

Saturday, November 3—State of the District, successes and challenges

8:30 am – noon

Saturday, November 10—Student-centered educational priorities

8:30 am – noon

Tuesday, December 4—Forum feedback, community survey results, future direction

7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Community members are welcome to participate as much or as little as their schedules permit, whether they can attend one forum for one hour, or all three forums. Discussion questions may include:

  • What should drive the future vision for our schools?
  • Where should we assign  time and resources to best meet district needs?
  • How do we create a supportive environment for student achievement?

The forum design will allow participants to learn about the district, ask questions, react to what they heard, and converse with other community members about district needs. With each session building on the previous conversations, the ultimate goal is to generate input for the Board to consider as they prepare the 5-year strategic plan.

Superintendent Susan Birkenmaier is leading the community forum initiative as part of the strategic planning process.

“As we regain fiscal stability and face the challenges of new education reform requirements, we want to ensure we have the appropriate curricular and staffing plans, technology and facilities in place. The community forums provide an opportunity for community members to tell us what's important for our schools,” said Birkenmaier in a media announcement about the forums.

Information about the forums and the strategic planning process will be available on the district’s website in the coming weeks. Questions can also be directed to the district office at 630.257.2286.
