DOWNERS GROVE

Beer Bust

Jon R. Doane, 25, of the 23800 block of 126th Street in Trevor, WI, was arrested around 1:03 a.m. in the 1200 block of Butterfield Road, police said.

Officers were dispatched to a bar on Butterfield Road after Doane was kicked out and began "causing problems" when he wasn't allowed back in with his friends, police said. The report indicated Doane was "highly intoxicated."

According to police, Doane punched an outdoor advertising sign after he was refused admittance, causing damage. He continued to yell at staff, and threw part of his Halloween costume—a pair of hard-plastic breasts filled with beer, police said.

The breasts struck the hood of a 2002 Mercedes SUV, police said.

Officers were able to locate Doane in the parking lot. He was wearing a German beer maiden costume, police said.

Doane was charged with criminal damage to property.

Homeless to Hotel

According to John Cooper, deputy police chief for the City of Darien, police were called to investigate the report of a suspicious person pushing five shopping carts down the road Tuesday afternoon.

“The subject was homeless and had some issues,” Cooper said in an email. “He wanted to go to a hotel. We tried to get him a cab, but he had too much stuff. We got a pickup truck and took him to a hotel in Bolingbrook.”

Cooper said police returned the shopping carts to a nearby Target store. The man was not arrested or charged.
