A Darien man charged with murder and aggravated kidnapping was ordered to be held without bail Monday.
Joseph Spitalli, 34, of 7529 Country Lane in Darien, was taken into custody Sunday and charged with murder in the stabbing death of 31-year-old Teymur Huseynli, of Skokie. Spitalli was also charged with aggravated kidnapping after officials said he kidnapped Huseynli's ex-girlfriend, 28-year-old Kristina Baltrimaviciene.

Huseynli and Baltrimaviciene left Baltrimaviciene’s apartment sometime before midnight Friday to walk a dog. Spitalli allegedly approached the couple, and a fight between Huseynli and Spitalli ensued.
Spitalli allegedly grabbed Huseynli from behind and slit his throat. He allegedly forced Baltrimaviciene into his car at knifepoint and drove to his home. Spitalli then took Baltrimaviciene to his parent's house, telling his parents that Baltrimaviciene had been the victim of a battery. The pair contacted Darien Police Department to report the battery and were taken to the police department, where an investigation revealed Baltrimaviciene was not the victim of an alleged battery but an alleged kidnapping.
Prior to the incident, Spitalli had been following Baltrimaviciene, showing up at her home and workplace, according to the Trib. She took out an order of protection against Spitalli in September, but that order was denied, the Tribune reported Monday. The judge said there wasn't enough evidence to warrant the order, the Trib said.
"I’m glad she’s alive. She's always been afraid. She always told them that she was afraid," said a friend of the woman kidnapped told the Trib.
Darien police responded at 12:25 a.m. Friday to a battery call on Wildwood Court in Darien, according to a DuPage County State's Attorney's press release. They found Huseynli dead on the lawn of an apparent knife wound.
