The filing period for municipal elections began Monday, and candidates have started to line up for a number of local races.
The election is April 9, 2013. Candidates may file a petition of candidacy through Wednesday, Dec. 26.

Darien City Council
Open Seats: 4 (wards 1, 3, 5 and 7)
Term Length: 4 years
Who's Filed: Incumbent Ted V. Schauer filed in the 1st Ward; Joseph A. Kenny filed in the 3rd Ward; incumbent Joseph A. Marchese filed in the 5th Ward, as did Marianne Batryn; and incumbent Halil Avci filed in the 7th Ward.
District 86 School Board
Open Seats: 4
Term Length: 4 years
Who's Filed: Jennifer Babbington of Darien, Victor Casini of Burr Ridge, Claudia Manley of Darien, Dennis Brennan of Hinsdale (incumbent), Deirdre “DeeDee” Gorgol of Willowbrook (incumbent) and Kay Gallo of Clarendon Hills (incumbent) filed the first day possible.
District 61 School Board
Open Seats: 3
Term Length: 4 years
Who's filed: As of Monday, only incumbent Claudia Manley filed.
District 63 School Board
Open Seats: 3
Term Length: 4 years
Who's filed: Board president Michael Webster has filed for re-election, and Michael Ockrim has also filed.
District 66 School Board
Who's filed: So far four people have filed: Incumbent Mark Motuelle and challengers Liane Raso, Tracey Edwards and Glenn Olsen.
Indian Prairie Library Board
Open Seats: 4
Term Length: 4 years
Who's Filed: As of Monday, only incumbent Luanne Spiros filed.
Darien Park District
Who's Filed: Incumbents Ray Jablonski and Rob Sarocco.
Darien-Woodridge Fire District
Who's Filed: So far, Sharon Cattaneo and Robert Klein have filed.
