$2,500 Four JFK Portraits
The well-known artist Peter Max is responsible for this piece, which features four different-colored renderings of President John F. Kennedy. Some simple math tells me that this is $625 per Kennedy, apparently a discount from the original $4,500 ($1,125/JFK.) It’s available from a Willowbrook seller.
We Want a Talking Dog
… So, someone and their girlfriend in Darien saw that YouTube video of the talking dog, and decided that yes, they too would like a talking dog. Seriously. They’d like a talking dog, like the one they saw in a video. “He doesn't have to have an extensive vocabulary, but a few basic words would be a great starter!” they write. … Um, let me know how that works out?
Antique Red Sled
This sled has a steering mechanism and brakes, two things that might have spared me (and a six-year-old and stuffed tiger I can think of) several painful spills back in the ‘90s. The Hinsdale seller calls it a “bobsled,” but it looks like more of a toboggan, really. I hope they’re more accurate about those brakes working. It’s up for $300.
Help! Runaway Turtle!
A red-eared slider turtle (Trachemys scripta elegans) has gone missing from 59th and Holmes in Clarendon Hills. Hopefully someone can find him! … He really can’t have gotten very far, right?
Addams Family Pinball
They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky, and they’re now loaded with jackpots and multi-balls and bumpers and the terror of tilting. Take on America’s most beloved family of weirdoes in this pinball machine, a “highly desired title,” going for $5,498 from a Hinsdale seller.
Composer-Head Music Boxes
What is it with busts of the heads of composers? The piano I grew up with always had a Beethoven bust, and it always seemed odd… Meet Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Chopin, Bach, Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn and Hayden, each playing their respective music. (Wagner was kicked out because he just couldn’t stop making slurs about Mendelssohn.) They come in two sets, one wood and one ceramic, each $195 from a Hinsdale seller.
